How to Make the Perfect Slutty Brownie for Mother's Day

Perhaps Slutty is not a great name for a Brownie to send to your Mother on Mother's Day? So for the run up to Mother's Day we'll be renaming our Slutty Brownie the Queen of Brownies. Mum may appreciate this more?

Slutty Brownies came about from a Blog piece titled The Londoner a great foodie/lifestyle blog, it was from here we got the inspiration to start making our own. The original recipe calls for Betty Crocker packet mixes. We being brownie heaven made up our own mixes and substituted the cookie mix with a blondie mix.

If you are really into baking you may want to have a go at making these great brownies yourself what is a Queen of Brownies aka SLUTTY BROWNIE?

It is half blondie, half brownie with an Oreo Cookie sandwiched in the middle. A blondie is just a name for a brownie made with white chocolate rather than dark chocolate, no cocoa powder is added either. This gives a brownie with a flavour reminiscent of caramac as the blondie bakes it creates a caramelised white chocolate flavour.

How do you go about making these delicious Queen of Brownies? (a.k.a. Slutty Brownies)

We'll start with the Ingredients required.

 Dark Brownie Mix

100g unsalted butter

150g dark chocolate (70% + Cocoa Solids)

40g plain flour

20g cocoa powder

2 medium eggs

135g golden caster sugar

Blondie Mix

100g unsalted butter

150g white chocolate

60g plain flour

2 medium eggs

120g golden caster sugar

15 Oreo cookies

15g unsalted butter for greasing

Pre heat the oven to 160 degrees C or Gas Mark 4.

For the Blondie Mix add the butter and white chocolate into a bowl and heat over a simmering pan until melted stirring constantly.

Set up an electric mixer and add the eggs and sugar on a slow mix, then slowly add the melted white chocolate and butter. Once added spoon in the flour. Allow the mixer to combine all the ingredients.

Grease a 10x6 baking tray with unsalted butter, pour in the blondie mix, then add a layer of the oreos into the tray so they are evening spaced out and push in slightly into the mix.

Next for the Dark Brownie Mix add the butter and chocolate into a bowl and as for the blondie mix  heat over a simmering pan until melted stirring constantly.

Ensure the electric mixer bowl is cleaned well and add the eggs and sugar on a slow mix, then slowly add the melted chocolate and butter. Once added spoon in the flour and cocoa. Allow the mixer to combine all the ingredients.

Next pour the Dark Brownie Batter into the tray over the Oreo's and Blondie Mix, spread it evenly with a spatula. Then place in the oven for 25 minutes. Check after 25 minutes if the brownie still wobbles it will need another 5 minutes. If you try the skewer test it should come out caked in goo! The top will have a light crust and the sides should just be coming away from the tin. Leave in the tin until cold and then cut into squares 4cm x 4cm, which can be served cold or warmed slightly in the microwave for 15 seconds for each brownie.
